One of the most meaningful changes I’ve made in my life is becoming more intentional about who I allow into my space. I used to believe that having a large circle of friends meant I was a good person—that being surrounded by many was somehow a reflection of my worth.
But over time, I realized that isn’t necessarily true.
As I’ve grown older, I’ve learned that there is a quiet kind of peace that comes with a smaller, more intentional circle. Being selective about who I surround myself with has brought a sense of calm I didn’t know I was missing. Setting boundaries helped me release the constant need to please others, and although it hasn’t been easy—and is still something I continue to practice—it has been worth it.
I’ve come to understand that protecting my inner peace matters more than living up to other people’s expectations of me.
And in choosing that, I’ve never felt better.
